The reason for this ancient name could go back to the fact that, while all the streets of the city were paved with bricks laid with a knife, only the street near the Porta a Selci, which continued almost in a straight line up to the village of San Lazzaro, was entirely paved with small stones. At street numbers from 40 to 46, we find the ancient Casa Bartalini-Baldelli.
